Day 3 - Sturbridge, MA to Freeport, ME (June 24,
2009): Special Events for the Day: Late morning: "MINIs at the Micro" Micro-creamery that is! England's Microcreamery in Haverhill, MA has agreed to open early to be inundated with travelling MINIs. England's (how appropriate for a MINI run) is home to Guinness ice cream among other flavors. For those who just can't eat ice cream before they have lunch, England's does offer a small lunch menu. Sights to See: L.L. Bean - Freeport, ME While in Maine, why not check out L.L. Bean's flagship store. It's open 24 hours a day, so you're never too late. For those on the highway route, take exit 19 for US-1 and head North to the town of Freeport. Delorme Map Store - Yarmouth, ME Just south of Freeport on Rt. 1 is the Delorme Map store, home of "Eartha" the world's largest rotating and revolving globe.
Highway Route: 176 miles Take I-84 East Exit onto I-90 East (Massachusetts Turnpike) Exit onto I-495 North to avoid the traffic associated with Boston Merge back onto I-95 north Take Exit 19 off I-95 and head north on US-1 Follow US-1 North into Freeport. |
